Equine Lick Mat
Equine Lick Mat
Designed to soothe anxious horses, invigorate bored ones, and encourage natural foraging behaviours, our lick mats are the perfect way for horses to enjoy their favourite treats while promoting mental stimulation and relaxation.
Benefits
Enrichment: Supports natural instincts such as licking, nibbling with teeth and lips, engaging whiskers, and exploring sensory behaviours like taste and smell.
Stress Relief: Encourages relaxation by tapping into horses' innate calming mechanisms through repetitive licking.
Slow Feeding: Puréed treats promote slower consumption, aiding digestion and reducing the risk of choke.
Dental Health: Gentle on teeth, ideal for horses with dental issues or missing teeth, allowing them to enjoy the treats they love comfortably.
Distraction: Provides a tasty, engaging focus during potentially stressful moments like washing, farrier visits, or vet check-ups.
Customisable Nutrition: Easily tailor treats to suit your horse’s dietary needs.
Materials & Design
Made from 100% food-grade, BPA-free silicone, our Lick Mats feature a soft surface for sensitive muzzles. The extra-large size and simple, open texture suit horses' big tongues. Suction cups on the back help secure the mat, and corner holes allow for optional hanging. The mat is freezer-safe for cooling treats on hot days and dishwasher-safe for easy cleanup.
How to Use
Start with a clean lick mat. Use a spatula to spread your horse’s favourite treat over the surface (just a few tablespoons). Add variety by dusting or sprinkling lighter foods on top. Place the mat on the ground, in a feed tub, or hang it securely. Wash thoroughly after each session. For added fun, freeze the treats for a longer-lasting challenge!
Topping Ideas
Mashed or puréed vegetables, fruits, or soaked grains. Sticky syrups or pastes. Crushed herbs, seeds, or horse-safe flower petals
